Be A Problem Solver
Be a problem solver. Operations personnel will inevitably encounter problems. We all know that. The ability to identify and solve problems quickly and effectively is an important skill. Thinking creatively and coming up with innovative and creative solutions is likely part of the job. Right?
I’ve become pretty good at and enjoy being a problem solver. Now, I know what that may seem that I know ‘everything.’ Although I may pretend to know it all, what makes the ‘VP of Other’ tick is the ability to quickly adapt, a quick study, a researcher. To quote the great Walt Whitman and made popular lately by Ted Lasso, “Be curious, not judgmental.”
If you’ve not seen the series, Ted Lasso, while it’s not for kids, it is incredibly fun to watch. Here’s a link to watch the clip I’m referring to.
In other words, solving an issue doesn’t mean you have all the answers. It does mean that you have to brush off the old thinking cap and be curious enough and willing to be vulnerable enough to say words that many dread… “I don’t know.” And, the next words right after that statement can be, “But, I’ll find out!” This part is oftentimes the most critical, “I’ll find out!” It’s not being judgmental. It’s putting aside whatever your feelings may be and getting to work on making a difference.
Today, be a problem solver, be curious. Good luck! I have faith that you can figure it out.
